Stein, Jennifer

Freelance Event Producer & Director

Jennifer Stein is an award-winning director, content creator and producer.  She has extensive experience in the areas of large-scale sporting events, festivals, theatre and concerts.

Jennifer is the founder of Skylark Events, where she collaborates with a network of senior event professionals servicing clients throughout North America.  Skylark oversees the conception, design and management of large and small-scale sporting, experiential, corporate and cultural events. 

Jennifer is currently the Creative Producer for Union Summer. She is partnering with with BaAM Productions to transform the doorstep of Canada’s busiest transit hub into a true outdoor destination. In 2016, Union Summer featured 10 weeks of daily curated culinary and cultural programming and public engagement of all kinds. Over 600 artists performed at the 2016 Union Summer.  She also served as Creative Producer at the Luminato Festival for three seasons, including 2016’s residency at the Hearn Generating Station.

In 2015, Jennifer created and produced the Victory Celebrations for the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games.  This nightly spectacle took place on Nathan Phillips Square to celebrate each day’s medal winning athletes.  Jennifer has also served as Event Consultant and Director for the launch of the official countdown clock and the creation and launch of the mascot program.

In 2012, Jennifer was the Director of Festival Events for the 100th Grey Cup Festival, which was awarded Canadian Sport Event of the Year by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA). This "Invitation to the Nation" sport and cultural festival hosted over 400,000 guests at 50 major events across the Greater Toronto Area and generated an economic impact of over $130 million.

Or many years, Jennifer was engaged on a continuing basis by the National Hockey League and Major League Baseball as the Director of Entertainment for the NHL All-Star FANtasy and All-Star Fanfest. She has also been the Live Event Director for the NHL All-Star Game.   

Jennifer has consulted to various clients including the Canadian National Exhibition, the fashion house Escada, the Government of Ontario, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards and the Princess Margaret Hospital. As a theatrical director, her projects have included the international symphonic tour of Beethoven Lives Upstairs and Handel’s Solomon.  She also served as Associate Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre, where her worked garnered two Dora Mavor Moore Awards: Best Production for Young Audiences and Best Direction of a Musical.

In her capacity as Live Event Director at BaAM Productions, Jennifer directed the NHL FACE-OFF season launch, enjoyed by 30,000 fans in Winnipeg and across the country on the CBC.  She was part of the BaAM team for the Toronto Handover portion of the Closing Ceremonies of the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.  For three years Jennifer programmed and directed events for 15,000 Stanford University Alumni at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles and Pasadena, California.

In the field of Arts & Education, Jennifer has taught Shakespeare workshops for grades 7 to OAC with Shakespeare In Action. While at Young People's Theatre she created, in conjunction with IBM Canada, the WordPlay program, a province-wide playwriting and literacy project for students age 11 to 18.

Under the auspices of Major League Baseball, she created the Write Field literacy program and the All-Star FanFest Diamond, a series of athletic clinics that brings city children and professional athletes together.   She has also created a series of youth fitness and training clinics for the National Hockey League.
