Equity Fight Director

Karen has studied stage violence with Rapier Wit, Fight Master Robert Seale, and Fight Directors Canada. Her play Heroine, featuring sword fighting roles for women, has been produced across Canada.

Karen has fought with rapier and dagger, hand sanitizer, saran wrap, broomstick, sleeping bag, and just about anything else you can think of. Oh,  yeah-- like her hands.

Her fight direction credits include: Neptune Theatre, Ships' Company Theatre, Theatre New Brunswick, The Pillowman: Fuller Street Five, Mulgrave Road Theatre, the Nova Scotia Merritt Awards, the Halifax Theatre for Young People, Festival Antigonish, Shakespeare by the Sea, and Home First Productions. She is a sought after teacher who has also created fight choreography for university and high school productions.  She is currently engaged with Neptune Theatre as fight director for In a World Created by A Drunken God.

Karen received the Theatre Nova Scotia scholarship for advanced studies in stage violence. With her mentor Robert Seale, she hopes to establish a regional fight studio thfor the Atlantic region that both teaches established technique and explores possibilities. She is passionate about innovation in the art form and its essential integration into the play as whole.
