S.M.Arts has added another level of education to our roster. We have incorporated a “Master class” component that will rotate through different art forms, such as Opera and Mega Musicals and full-length Ballets.
The point of this day is to put theory into practice and move outside the classroom. The day begins with a 3 to 4 hour class on the differences of the genre from text-based theatre. Participants will then watch a performance of the genre as an audience member and then watch the show a second time while listening to the stage manager call the show.
The experience is topped off with a backstage tour of the theatre followed by a ½ hour Q&A session with the stage management team.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity – an indepth, hands-on learning experience that is hard to achieve in any other educational institution.
Stay tuned for more information on the 2017 edition.
"I attended the Ballet Masterclass and I wanted to tell you how great it was. Jeff (Morris) is so knowledgeable and listening to him call Cinderella was invaluable. It was an amazing crash course on calling follow spots, which I am not sure you can learn anywhere else." - Becky Wasser (November 2016)
